Approach and Methodology
Our research project is subdivided in a human and a mouse part. The primary research model in our animal studies is the diet-induced obesity (DIO) in mice, which results in glucose intolerance (GI) within 8 – 12 weeks.
DIO closely resembles human disease, as observed in the majority of DM2 patients. DM2 in mice will be ‘diagnosed’, according to international guidelines, based on fasting plasma glucose concentrations (FPG) and performance in a glucose tolerance test (GTT).
