Our research project is sub­di­vided in a human and a mouse part. The pri­mary research model in our ani­mal stud­ies is the diet-​induced obe­sity (DIO) in mice, which results in glu­cose intol­er­ance (GI) within 812 weeks.

DIO closely resem­bles human dis­ease, as observed in the major­ity of DM2 patients. DM2 in mice will be ‘diag­nosed’, accord­ing to inter­na­tional guide­lines, based on fast­ing plasma glu­cose con­cen­tra­tions (FPG) and per­for­mance in a glu­cose tol­er­ance test (GTT).
